Do crystals actually work?
That depends entirely on what you mean by work.
From a scientific standpoint crystals do not have measurable metaphysical properties. From an intentional living standpoint they are powerful tools for focus, ritual anchoring, and emotional awareness. When you choose a black tourmaline for protection and carry it daily, you are making a conscious choice to return to that intention every time you feel it in your pocket. That returning is real. That practice is real. The shift it creates over time is real.
We believe crystals work the way all ritual works by giving your intention a physical anchor to return to. Whether you approach that as spiritual practice or mindfulness tool is completely your own.
How do I choose the right crystal for me?
Start with your intention rather than the stone. Ask yourself what you need most right now protection, clarity, self-love, grounding, abundance, intuition, or stability. Then let that intention guide you to the right crystal rather than choosing a stone and working backwards to find a meaning that fits.

Can I wear multiple crystals at once?
Yes! and most people do. The most important thing is intention. Know why you are wearing each piece and what energy you are combining. Some crystals work beautifully together moonstone and labradorite for intuitive work, rose quartz and lepidolite for emotional healing, black tourmaline and smoky quartz for deep grounding and protection.
If you are new to wearing multiple crystals start with two that share a complementary intention rather than combining everything at once.
How do I cleanse and charge my crystals?
Cleansing clears any energy a crystal has absorbed. Charging restores and amplifies its natural energy. Both practices matter and both are simpler than most guides make them sound.
To cleanse: Place your crystal in sunlight or moonlight for several hours. Pass it through the smoke of sage or palo santo. Place it on a selenite charging plate overnight. Sound cleansing with a singing bowl or bells also works beautifully.
To charge: Full moonlight is the most traditional and powerful charging method — place your crystals on a windowsill or outside on the night of a full moon. Sunlight charges quickly and powerfully but can fade some stones over time so use with care for coloured crystals like amethyst and rose quartz.
A note on water: Not all crystals are water safe. Black tourmaline, selenite, and malachite should never be submerged. When in doubt use moonlight or smoke cleansing instead.
What does energetically cleansed mean?
Every piece that leaves our studio has been cleansed energetically before it reaches you. In practice this means each crystal and finished product is passed through sage smoke and placed in moonlight before being packaged and sent out. We do this because we believe the energy something carries when it arrives in your home matters as much as the stone itself. You are welcome to cleanse your pieces again upon arrival if that feels right to your practice.
Can I wear my crystal jewelry in the shower or while swimming?
We recommend removing your crystal jewelry before showering, swimming, or bathing. Prolonged water exposure can affect the integrity of beading wire, findings, and certain stones over time. Remove before contact with perfume, lotions, and cleaning products as well. Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight when not wearing.
How do I use a simmer blend?
Fill a small pot with water and add your blend. Warm on low heat on your stovetop or in a ceramic simmer pot. Never leave unattended and keep water topped up as it evaporates. Your blend can also be used as a bath sachet, drawer sachet, meditation companion, or altar offering. Each of our blend listings includes a full how to use guide with all six suggested uses.
Are your simmer blends safe to use?
Yes! our blends are made from dried botanicals and are safe for general use as simmer blends, bath sachets, and drawer sachets when used as directed.
Important note regarding mugwort: Any blend containing mugwort is not recommended during pregnancy as it can stimulate uterine contractions. This is clearly noted on any listing containing mugwort.
Important note regarding pets: Some herbs including sage, clove, and certain essential oils can be harmful to cats and dogs in concentrated amounts. If you have pets we recommend simmering with windows open and ensuring your pet can leave the room freely. When in doubt consult your veterinarian.
How long do simmer blends last?
Unopened your blends will stay fresh for 12 to 18 months stored in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened use within six months for best potency and fragrance. Our herbs are dried and blended in small batches specifically to ensure freshness when they reach you.
Are your herbs ethically sourced?
Yes. Approximately half of the botanicals in our blends are grown by hand on our property in the Blue Mountains of Ontario. They are planted, tended, harvested, and dried by us through each growing season. The remaining botanicals are sourced from Canadian and ethical herbal wholesalers whose sourcing practices align with our values. We expand our garden every season with the goal of growing as much of our own material as possible.
Are your crystals ethically sourced?
We source our crystals from trusted suppliers whose ethical sourcing practices we have verified. We choose stones individually for their quality, energetic resonance, and clarity. Every stone that enters our studio is cleansed before it is worked with or included in any product. We are committed to expanding our knowledge of crystal sourcing practices and will always be transparent about what we know and what we are still learning.
Are your products suitable for someone who is not spiritual?
Absolutely. Many of our customers approach our products purely from a wellness, mindfulness, or self-care perspective with no spiritual framework at all. Our simmer blends are beautiful home fragrance tools. Our journals and pens support any writing practice. Our crystal pieces are genuinely beautiful objects that happen to carry meaningful symbolism if you choose to engage with it. You do not need to believe anything in particular to benefit from the practice of intention and ritual. You just need to be willing to slow down for a moment.
Is this religious?
No. Selene Ritual Studio is not affiliated with any religion or spiritual tradition. Our practice draws on universal themes of intention, natural cycles, and emotional wellbeing that exist across many traditions but belongs exclusively to none of them. Our products are designed to complement whatever belief system you hold or to stand entirely on their own as tools for mindful living.
ABOUT ORDERING
How long does processing take?
All orders are processed and shipped within 2 to 4 business days. Because 70% of our products are handmade in our Blue Mountains studio your order receives individual attention before it leaves us. You will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information as soon as your order is on its way.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship to Canada, the United States, and internationally. Shipping rates and estimated delivery times are calculated at checkout based on your location.
Please note: International orders may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, and fees upon arrival in your country. (Any tariffs are already included in the price for US residents.) These charges are the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in your order total or shipping cost. We recommend checking your country's import regulations before ordering.
A note on herb products: Some countries have restrictions on importing dried botanicals. If you are ordering internationally and your order includes simmer blends or herbal sachets please check your country's customs regulations before placing your order. We are not responsible for orders held or seized by customs. (Currently cannot ship these to the USA due to new regulations)
Can I add a gift note to my order?
Yes. Leave your personal message in the order notes at checkout and we will include a handwritten gift note with your order. Gift packaging is included with every order at no extra charge. Everything from our studio is packaged to feel meaningful and ready to give.
Do you offer local pickup?
We do not currently offer local pickup. All orders are shipped directly from our Blue Mountains studio.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards through our secure Shopify checkout. Your payment information is never stored and all transactions are encrypted and secure.
My order arrived damaged. What should I do?
We take great care in packaging every order but occasionally things happen in transit. If your order arrives damaged please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with a photo of the damage and your order number. We will make it right.

What is your return policy?
Because every Selene product is handmade to order in small batches we are unable to accept returns or exchanges. Each piece is made with care and intention specifically for the person who ordered it.
If your order arrives damaged or incorrect please contact us within 48 hours and we will resolve it immediately. Your satisfaction genuinely matters to us and we will always find a fair solution.

I am completely new to ritual. Where do I start?
Start with one intention and one tool. That is it.
Read through our Sacred Seven™ guide and notice which intention resonates most strongly right now. Then choose one product that carries that energy and begin there. You do not need an altar, a ceremony, or any prior knowledge. You just need a moment of stillness and a genuine intention.

How do I build a daily ritual practice?
Start smaller than you think you need to. A daily ritual does not need to be elaborate or time consuming. It needs to be consistent and intentional.
A three minute morning practice is more powerful than an occasional hour long ceremony. Choose one anchor — your manifestation pen, a crystal you hold while breathing, a simmer blend you turn on while you have your morning coffee — and return to it every day. Consistency is what transforms a moment into a practice.

What is the difference between cleansing and charging a crystal?
Cleansing removes energy a crystal has absorbed — from its environment, from handling, from emotional work. Think of it as clearing the slate.
Charging restores and amplifies a crystal's natural energy. Think of it as refilling what has been used.
Both matter and both should be done regularly if you are working with crystals actively. Full moonlight does both simultaneously which is why moon charging is the most widely recommended practice in crystal work.
Do I need to cleanse my crystals when they arrive?
Every piece from our studio has already been energetically cleansed before it was packaged and sent to you. That said many practitioners prefer to cleanse new crystals themselves upon arrival as a personal ritual of welcome and intention setting. There is no right or wrong approach. Do what feels aligned with your practice.
